The National Residential Landlords Association report that a new How to Rent Guide is due to be published this week. This is the first update since an Easy Read version of the guide was published in 2021.
Landlords seeking possession must have served a copy of the How to Rent Guide on their tenant at commencement of the tenancy or on renewal to be able to obtain possession pursuant to Section 21 of the Housing Act 1988. To avoid any issues in the future, agents and landlords should keep an eye out for the revised version and ensure they have the correct version for service moving forward.
It forms part of the prescribed information landlords must issue, and if they do not, they lose the right to repossess using Section 21.
