The government is set to publish a code of practice to support businesses through the ongoing pandemic.

I understand that the aim of the code will be to facilitate discussions between landlords and tenants in respect of payments due under the terms of leases, with the view of ensuring that "no one part of the chain shoulders the full burden of payment".

With the June quarter day fast approaching, and the indication that the code of practice will be voluntary, it will be interesting to see whether the government achieves this aim.

Forsters' property litigation team will keep you posted on further developments.
