Sustainability loans are seemingly all the rage at the moment. Great Portland Estates UK REIT have entered into a £450m sustainability linked facility aligned with reducing carbon emissions and increasing biodiversity across their portfolio. The facility has been provided by a club of banks (including Wells Fargo) - with Santander acting as the sustainability co-ordinator. This is the first such facility to be taken out by a UK REIT.
IPUT Real Estate has also increased their facilities with Wells Fargo which contains a €200m green linked facility.
This is good news for the real estate sector - for landlords and occupiers alike particularly in the post Covid 19 world.
