The theme of Earth Day 2022 is to ‘Invest in our planet’.
Personally I think this is also an opportunity to consider whether investments are ethical and something that you are proud to be associated with?
The UK’s tax authority, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), on 19 April 2022 announced its intention to revoke the Moscow Stock Exchange’s (MOEX) status as a recognised stock exchange.
This means investors will not be able to access certain UK tax benefits in future when trading securities on MOEX, although existing investments will be protected.
But despite retaining their tax efficiency an ethical investor may re-evaluate such holdings.
