Interesting news item from The Times today highlighting a KPMG survey that evidences in a relatively short period of time a major shift in the popularity of home working amongst CEOs. It does not seem that long ago that some were predicting the demise of the office!
What it does show is that I think for many the novelty of working from home started to wear thin in Lockdown 3. The importance of human interaction and a collaborative working environment is something we took for granted - we now genuinely yearn for its return.
Bosses are going cold on home working and most expect their employees to return to the office once vaccinated, research by KPMG suggests. It is good news for offices, with just 17% of bosses saying they expect to cut space in the next three years, down from an eye-watering 69% six months ago. KPMG’s survey was conducted between late January and early March this year. The chief executives of 500 companies with annual revenues of at least $500m were questioned about the three-year outlook for their businesses and the global economy.
