The Government said they'd publish over the Spring/Summer their policy documents taking account of the impact of Covid19. One of these policy documents will be in respect of non-resident SDLT (NRSDLT). Whilst a withdrawal of the proposal is perhaps unlikely; a deferral to stimulate the residential property market would be welcomed by many developers, and many other sellers who may have to sell as a result of a loss in income over the last few months.
At Budget 2020, the Government also announced it would publish a number of other tax policy documents. In the light of COVID-19, the Government will consider the publication of these and other expected documents on a case by case basis, taking into account the impact of COVID-19 on stakeholders.
